EcoAble 3-in-1 Hybrid Cloth Diaper — Reusable Training Pants, Daytime Diaper & Swim Diaper in One
One product that works two completely different ways depending on whether the insert is in or out. Designed for daytime use only — not suitable for overnight or sleep.
Daytime use only — not designed for overnight or sleep
This diaper is built for daytime learning, outings, and swim. It does not have the absorbency needed for overnight use or uninterrupted sleep. If your child needs nighttime protection, the
EcoAble Nighttime Cloth Diaper Set is the right product for that.
How it works
The insert is the on/off switch — two completely different products
Whether the snap-in insert is in or out changes what this product is entirely. Without the insert it functions like underwear. With it, it functions like a daytime diaper. Same shell, two very different uses.
Without insert
Underwear mode
- Looks and fits like regular underwear
- Thin sewn-in pad catches small dribbles in the wet zone
- Cool mesh lining creates a light wet sensation — helps children notice wetness and connect it with needing to use the potty
- Pull-up elastic waist — child can pull up and down independently
- Works as a swim diaper — contains solids without absorbing water
Not for: full accidents, heavy wetting, or overnight use
With insert
Diaper mode
- Snap-in insert adds moderate daytime absorbency
- Handles fuller accidents — for children who aren't quite there yet
- Good for longer outings when potty access is uncertain
- Side snaps allow parent to remove without pulling down over legs if soiled
- More protection than training pants, less bulk than a full diaper
Not for: overnight, sleep, or heavy incontinence
Who this is for
Four situations — one product
Potty training (ages 1–4)
Start without the insert so your child feels wetness and learns. Add the insert for longer trips out or when bigger accidents are still common. The side snaps make messy changes much easier.
Older toddler daytime (ages 3+)
For toddlers who are mostly trained but still have occasional daytime accidents. Without the insert, it's close to regular underwear with a safety net for small leaks.
Big kid daytime (ages up to 10)
For older children who need light daytime protection but want something that looks like underwear. The pull-up design and underwear-like profile means your child can manage it independently.
Swim diaper
Remove the insert completely before swimming. The waterproof shell contains solids without absorbing pool or sea water — no disposable swim diaper needed.
Design details
Built for both the child and the parent
For the child
Pull-up waist elastics
Front and back waist elastics let your child pull the diaper up and down like underwear — building independence and making toilet visits easier.
For the parent
Side snaps
If a soiled diaper needs to come off quickly, the side snaps let you unfasten and remove it without pulling it down over your child's legs.
For awareness
Cool mesh inner lining
The soft mesh lining creates a light cool sensation when wet — intentionally designed to help children notice wetness and connect it with the need to use the potty.
For versatility
Adjustable fit
Two sizes cover ages 1–10. Rise snaps and side snap adjustments give a secure fit across a wide range of body sizes within each size.

Key features
What makes this design work
Waterproof outer shell
PUL outer layer keeps moisture contained in both diaper and swim modes. Silent and soft — no crinkle sounds or stiff feel.
Wetness awareness lining
The cool mesh inner lining is intentionally less absorbent than padded training pants — your child feels wetness, which supports faster potty training learning.
Adjustable absorbency
Snap in the insert for fuller protection. Remove it for an underwear-like feel or swim use. No need to buy separate products for different situations.
Reusable — machine washable
Replaces disposable training pants, swim diapers, and daytime diapers. Wash and reuse. Most families keep 4–6 in rotation for daily use.

Sizing
Two sizes — measure your child's hips, not their age
Size by hip circumference — not age, weight, or clothing size. A 5-year-old and a 9-year-old can wear the same size depending on their build. Measure around the widest part of your child's hips, below the hip bone.
| Size |
Hip circumference |
Best for |
| Size 2 |
13–23 in (33–58 cm) |
Younger children in early potty training stages |
| Size 3 |
18–30 in (46–76 cm) |
Older children, roomier fit, more coverage |
If your child is between sizes, size up. The adjustable rise snaps and side snaps allow the fit to be customised within each size range.
Size 3 for big kids up to age 10
Size 3 is specifically designed with older children in mind — a roomier, more grown-up fit that doesn't look or feel like a toddler product. It's the right choice for children ages 5–10 who need daytime light protection or a discreet swim diaper.
Honest assessment
What this product is — and what it isn't
This works well for...
Daytime potty training, occasional daytime accidents, longer outings when full diaper protection is helpful, and swim. It's genuinely versatile for the daytime situations most families deal with from toddlerhood through early school age.
This is not a nighttime product
The absorbency in this diaper — even with the insert — is not designed for overnight sleep or extended uninterrupted use. If your child needs nighttime or bedwetting protection, the
EcoAble Nighttime Cloth Diaper Set is built for that purpose with significantly higher absorbency.
On the wetness awareness design
The cool mesh lining is intentionally less padded than many training pants — your child will feel when they are wet. This is a feature for potty training, not a flaw. If your child finds the wet sensation uncomfortable, using the insert provides more of a stay-dry feel.
For older kids (ages 5–10)
In Size 3 without the insert, this is one of the most underwear-like options available in this age range. The pull-up design, soft outer shell, and slim profile make it discreet under clothing for light daytime needs. Visibility will depend on clothing choice — looser styles work best.
Care
Washing instructions
Machine washable Cold or warm rinse first No fabric softeners Air dry or tumble low
Cold or warm rinse first, then a full wash with detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat the mesh and microfiber layers and reduce absorbency over time. Air drying extends the life of the PUL shell; the insert can be tumble dried on low. Remove the insert before washing for best results.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this overnight?
No. This product is designed for daytime use only and does not have the absorbency needed for overnight or sleep. For nighttime protection, the EcoAble Nighttime Cloth Diaper Set is the right product — it's built specifically for extended overnight use with much higher absorbency.
My child is 7 — is this too babyish?
Size 3 is specifically designed with older children in mind. Without the insert it has a slim, underwear-like profile that most children wear comfortably and discreetly under everyday clothing. The pull-up design means your child can manage it independently, just like regular underwear.
How does it work as a swim diaper?
Remove the snap-in insert completely before your child goes in the water. The waterproof shell contains solids without absorbing water — which is exactly what a swim diaper is designed to do. Do not use it as a swim diaper with the insert in, as the insert will absorb water and become waterlogged.
My child finds the wet sensation uncomfortable — what should I do?
The cool mesh lining is intentionally designed to let your child feel wetness — it's part of how it supports potty training awareness. If the sensation is too uncomfortable, snap in the insert, which provides a softer, more stay-dry feel while still offering protection.
Which size should I order?
Measure your child's hip circumference — around the widest part of their hips, below the hip bone. Size 2 fits hips 13–23 inches; Size 3 fits hips 18–30 inches. Do not size by age or clothing size — children of the same age can vary significantly in body size. If between sizes, size up.
How many do I need?
For potty training, most families find 4–6 diapers comfortable for daily rotation — enough to change through the day while the others wash and dry. For occasional daytime use or swim, 2–3 is usually enough.
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
