Warranty

Warranty policy

Two warranties apply at EcoAble, based on who manufactured the product. EcoAble-branded products (anything labeled "EcoAble") are covered by our 90-day manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Items from other brands — including Disana, Reiff, Engel, Hirsch-Natur, Sense Organics, Little Green Radicals, and Pickapooh — are covered by a 14-day inspection window from delivery, since EcoAble is a reseller for those brands.

The short version: check the brand label. EcoAble-branded products are covered for 90 days from purchase for manufacturing defects. Anything from another brand has a 14-day inspection window from delivery for defects present on arrival, before the item is worn or washed. Normal wear and tear, friction holes, snags, pilling, felting, shrinking, and damage from improper care aren't covered under either warranty. To file a claim, email support@ecoable.net with photos of the defect.

Not sure which warranty applies?

Check the brand on the product page or the label on the item. If it says "EcoAble" anywhere as the brand, the 90-day warranty applies. If it lists any other brand — whether it's a wool cover, a cotton diaper, a base layer, a sweater, or a sock — the 14-day inspection window applies.

EcoAble-branded products (90-day warranty)

Products manufactured by EcoAble are warranted against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the date of purchase. Coverage extends to the original purchaser only — proof of purchase is required to file a claim.

What's covered

All components of EcoAble-branded products, including:

  • Snaps (breaking, detaching, or failing to close)
  • Elastic (premature stretching, snapping, or coming loose from stitching)
  • Lining and absorbent layers (separation or stitching failures)
  • PUL waterproofing (delamination, cracking, or peeling within 90 days of first use)
  • Construction issues like loose seams or misplaced stitching

What's not covered

These are normal use issues, wear-and-tear, or care-related problems — not manufacturing defects:

  • Improper fit. See our fit troubleshooting for how to adjust.
  • Leaks. Almost always a fit, absorbency, or wash routine issue — see the leak guide.
  • Odor issues. A wash routine problem, not a product defect — see why cloth diapers stink.
  • Fading or staining from urine, bleach, or sunlight.
  • Repelling from detergent buildup, mineral buildup, or diaper cream residue.
  • Pilling on the fleece or fabric surfaces.
  • Normal wear and tear after extended use.
Actions that void the warranty
  • Washing at water temperatures above 130°F (54°C). High heat damages PUL, elastics, and snaps.
  • Using fabric softeners, vinegar, caustic substances, or unapproved laundry additives. These degrade the fabric and waterproof layers.
  • Using petroleum-based diaper rash creams (Desitin, Aquaphor, Vaseline, A&D) directly on cloth diapers. These cause permanent repelling. Use a cloth-safe cream or a disposable liner.
  • Alterations or modifications to the product.
  • Failure to follow the washing instructions. See our wash routine guide.
Reporting early matters

Report manufacturing defects as soon as you notice them. If a snap breaks on the second use, contact us then — don't wait to see if others break too. Early reports are easier to diagnose as manufacturing issues rather than wear issues, which makes the claim process faster.

Items from other brands (14-day inspection window)

For products manufactured by other brands — Disana, Reiff, Engel, Hirsch-Natur, Sense Organics, Little Green Radicals, Pickapooh, and others — EcoAble is a reseller. These are heritage European brands that have been making garments and cloth diapering products for decades, and their items are inspected before they reach our warehouse. Occasionally a defect slips through, and our warranty exists to catch those.

Our coverage is a 14-day inspection window from delivery. This is for confirming the item arrived as it should — not a wear-test period. Once an item has been worn, washed, or laundered, we can no longer cover it under warranty, because natural fibers respond to how they're cared for and we have no way to assess what happened to a garment after it left our care.

This applies to everything from these brands, regardless of category — wool covers, cotton diapers, base layers, sweaters, blankets, socks, and accessories.

What to do when your order arrives

Take a few minutes when your package arrives. The inspection itself usually takes under five minutes per item.

  1. Open the package and inspect each item within 14 days. Don't wear or wash anything until you've checked it.
  2. Lay each item flat in good light. Check seams (especially crotch, underarm, and inseam on base layers), look for holes, pulled threads, or knitting flaws, verify all snaps and buttons are secure, and confirm the size on the label matches what you ordered.
  3. If you spot anything, email support@ecoable.net with clear photos before wearing or washing the item. We'll arrange a replacement, credit, or refund.
  4. If everything looks good, follow the brand's care instructions carefully from the very first wash. Most premature damage we see traces back to the first one or two washes — hot water, agitation, or tumble drying will felt and shrink wool permanently.

What's covered

  • Manufacturing defects present on arrival — broken seams, knitting flaws, fabric holes, faulty snaps or buttons, mislabeled sizing
  • Items damaged in shipping — please keep all packaging and photograph the damage
  • Wrong item shipped

What's not covered

Wool, silk, and organic cotton are natural, breathable fibers chosen for next-to-skin comfort, warmth, and gentleness on skin — qualities that come with real trade-offs in durability. Understanding these helps set realistic expectations:

  • Friction wear and inner-thigh holes. Thin merino, merino-silk, and merino-cotton base layers are prone to wear at the inner thigh, underarm, and other high-friction areas. This is normal and is the single most common source of holes we see. It is not a manufacturing defect, regardless of how soon it occurs.
  • Holes in socks. Wool socks wear through at the heel, ball of foot, and toe under normal use. Even high-quality merino socks have a finite lifespan — this is not a defect.
  • Snags, pulls, and tears from catching on something. Wool fabric catches easily on velcro, jewelry, fingernails, pet claws, and rough surfaces. These are accidental damage, not defects.
  • Pilling. All wool garments pill, especially in the first few wears, and especially in high-friction areas. A wool comb or sweater stone removes pills and is part of normal wool care.
  • Felting and shrinking. Caused by hot water, agitation, or tumble drying. Felting is irreversible and isn't covered. See our wool wash guide.
  • Misshaping or stretching from improper drying (hanging wet wool instead of laying it flat to dry).
  • Fading or color changes from washing or sun exposure.
  • Holes or thin spots that develop during wear, including at seams. Once an item has been worn or washed, we can no longer assess whether an issue was present at delivery.
  • Defects reported more than 14 days after delivery.
Wool needs specific care

Most wool damage we see traces back to care mistakes — hot water, machine agitation, or tumble drying. Protect your garments by following our wool care guides: wool clothes and socks and wool diaper covers.

Holes can often be repaired

If a wool garment develops a friction hole or snag during wear, it's often repairable with a darning needle and matching wool yarn — merino darns beautifully because the fibers blend invisibly. Search "visible mending merino base layer" on YouTube for tutorials, or take it to a local tailor who works with wool.

How to file a warranty claim

The process is the same for both warranties. We aim to respond to all claims within 2 business days.

1
Email support
Send a claim to support@ecoable.net with the product name, brand, order number (or proof of purchase), and a description of the issue.
2
Include clear photos
Well-lit photos showing the defect from multiple angles. For PUL issues, photograph the inside of the diaper. For stitching, photograph the affected seam close up. For items from other brands, photograph before the item has been worn or washed.
3
We assess & respond
Our team reviews the claim within 2 business days. We may ask for additional photos or information if needed to evaluate the defect fully.
4
Resolution
If the claim is approved, we resolve it case by case — replacement, store credit, or refund depending on the product, availability, and your preference.
What "proof of purchase" means

Your order confirmation email from ecoable.net is the simplest proof of purchase — include the order number in your claim and we can look it up on our end. If you bought through Amazon, eBay, or another platform, that platform handles warranty claims instead of us; check their return policies.

Expected lifespan & care

Cloth diapers are durable but not indestructible. With proper care, you can reasonably expect:

  • 2–3 years of daily use for shells and covers before significant wear shows
  • 300–400 wash cycles over a diaper's life, depending on care
  • Longer life for natural-fiber inserts (hemp, bamboo, cotton) — often into a second child
  • Faster wear for heavily used individual diapers — rotating through a larger stash extends the life of the whole set

Individual results depend heavily on how often you wash, water temperature, detergent choice, and whether diapers are rotated through a large stash or used in a small rotation. Following the guides below maximizes both warranty coverage and actual diaper lifespan.
