EcoAble Adult Bamboo-Cotton Prefold Booster — Extra Absorbency and Compression-Leak Protection for Cloth Diapers
A reusable bamboo-cotton prefold booster that adds heavy absorbency to any cloth diaper system — and solves the compression leaks that microfiber inserts can cause under pressure. Fold in thirds, lay inside any shell (EcoAble or another brand), layer the insert on top. A simple solution for heavier needs, overnight wear, and the pressure-release leaks microfiber alone can't handle.
Who this is for
What this booster is built to do
The bamboo-cotton prefold booster solves three problems. First, it adds significant absorbency when a shell and insert alone fall short — heavier days, longer wear between changes, or overnight use. Second, it catches compression leaks from microfiber inserts: under pressure from sitting or a snug waistband, microfiber can release liquid it has already absorbed, and a bamboo-cotton prefold underneath catches what the insert releases. Third, it's a trimmer way to add absorbency than stacking a second snap-in insert — natural bamboo-cotton fibers hold more moisture per unit of thickness than microfiber, so you get more capacity with less bulk.
Works with non-EcoAble cloth diaper systems too
If you're using another brand's cloth diaper system and experiencing compression leaks from microfiber inserts, this booster will help there as well. It's a flat prefold with no snaps — it lays inside whatever shell or cover you're already using. Size by matching to your shell (see sizing below).
The mechanism
Why bamboo-cotton catches what microfiber releases
Microfiber absorbs quickly by trapping liquid in the spaces between its fibers. Under pressure, those spaces compress and release the liquid back out — the mechanical cause of compression leaks.
Bamboo and cotton absorb moisture into the fibers themselves rather than into gaps between fibers. Pressure doesn't squeeze liquid back out the same way, so a bamboo-cotton prefold underneath a microfiber insert acts as a secondary trap. The insert handles fast initial absorption; the booster handles retention under pressure.
How to use it
Tri-fold, lay in, snap the insert on top
The booster is a flat prefold pad — you fold it into thirds lengthwise before placing it inside your shell. The snap-in insert then goes on top of it, snapping into the shell as usual. The booster doesn't snap in itself — it stays in place held between the insert and the shell.
The dimensions listed are unfolded measurements
When folded into thirds, the booster becomes a narrow pad that fits neatly inside the shell. Small and medium fold to 6 inches wide; large folds to 7 inches wide. This is the width that sits against you during wear.
Where it fits in the absorbency stack
Layer 1
Waterproof shell
Pocket diaper, diaper cover, or pull-on. The outer waterproof layer that contains everything — EcoAble or any other brand.
This product
Layer 2
Bamboo-cotton prefold booster
Tri-folded and laid inside the shell first. Adds heavy absorbency and catches compression leaks from the microfiber insert above.
Layer 3
Snap-in insert
Snaps into the shell on top of the booster. Wicks moisture quickly through its microfiber core — the booster underneath backs it up.
For use inside a fitted diaper, simply lay the tri-folded booster inside the fitted before putting it on. The fitted holds it in place.

Sizing
Match booster size to your shell or fitted diaper size
Choose the same size as your shell or fitted diaper. Dimensions below are unfolded — each pad tri-folds to a narrow width for use.
Small
19.5 × 18.5 in unfolded
6 in wide when tri-folded
For small shells and fitted diapers.
Medium
22.5 × 18.5 in unfolded
6 in wide when tri-folded
For medium shells. The most common adult size.
Large
27.5 × 21 in unfolded
7 in wide when tri-folded
For large shells and fitted diapers.
If you're using the booster inside another brand's shell, match the booster to your shell's size (small/medium/large) — the folded widths should accommodate most cloth diaper shells sized similarly.
Key features
What makes this booster work
Catches microfiber compression leaks
Bamboo-cotton holds moisture under pressure better than microfiber can. Placed underneath a microfiber snap-in insert, it catches liquid that the insert would otherwise release back out when compressed — the specific failure mode behind most “sudden leak” complaints.
More capacity, less bulk than stacking inserts
70% bamboo-rayon and 30% cotton. Natural fibers hold more moisture per unit of thickness than microfiber, so the prefold adds significant absorbency without the bulk a second snap-in insert would create. A trimmer way to boost capacity for heavy daytime or overnight use.
Soft against skin
The bamboo-cotton blend stays soft and comfortable through extended wear, including overnight. It's a natural-fiber pad, not a synthetic one — gentler for sensitive skin than microfiber would be.
Simple tri-fold design
No snaps, no fiddly assembly — fold into thirds and lay in. The insert on top holds it in place. Works with any shell brand because it doesn't need to attach to anything.
Durable and reusable
Machine washable and built to last. Customers regularly report years of use from a single set of boosters — cotton and bamboo both hold up well to repeated washing.
Materials
What it's made of
Bamboo-Cotton Prefold Booster
70% Rayon from Bamboo / 30% Cotton. Both are natural fibers that absorb moisture into the fiber structure itself, which is what lets them hold onto liquid under compression where microfiber can't.
Honest assessment
Is this what you need?
This booster is right for you if...
Your current shell and insert setup is working most of the time but falls short on heavier days or overnight; or you're getting unexplained “sudden leaks” from a microfiber-based system (ours or another brand's) that feel like they come from pressure or shifting rather than from the insert being saturated. Both problems are what this booster was designed to solve.
On added thickness
Adding a booster does increase the overall thickness of the setup. It's noticeable but not extreme — the tri-fold keeps the pad compact, and bamboo-cotton adds meaningful absorbency for the thickness it takes up. Most customers find the capacity and compression-leak protection worth the added thickness, particularly for overnight use or longer daytime wear.
Don't have a shell yet?
This booster needs a cloth diaper shell to work as a complete system. If you're starting from scratch, our Maximum Protection Kit already includes the shell, snap-in insert, and this booster at a better combined price than buying separately. If you already own a shell from any brand, this booster is designed to slot right in.
Care
Washing instructions
Machine washable Cold or warm rinse first No fabric softeners Air dry or tumble low
Cold or warm rinse cycle first, then a full wash with detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat bamboo and cotton fibers and reduce absorbency over time. Tumble dry on low or air dry. The booster may take slightly longer to dry than a snap-in insert because the bamboo-cotton holds moisture more firmly — factor this into your rotation if you're using it daily.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
I have microfiber inserts from another brand — will this help with leaks?
Yes. The compression-leak issue affects most microfiber-based cloth diaper systems, not just ours — it's a property of how microfiber holds moisture, not a defect specific to any one manufacturer. A bamboo-cotton booster laid underneath a microfiber insert from any brand will catch the liquid that pressure squeezes out of the insert above. Size the booster to match your shell (small/medium/large); the tri-folded widths accommodate most cloth diaper shells sized similarly.
Does the booster snap in, or just lay inside?
It lays in — there are no snaps on the booster itself. You fold it into thirds and place it inside the shell first, then snap the insert on top as usual. The insert holds the booster in place during wear. This is also why it works with any brand's shell: nothing needs to attach.
What's the difference between a “compression leak” and a regular leak?
A regular leak happens when the absorbent layer is saturated and can no longer hold more — the diaper feels wet and full when it fails. A compression leak happens when pressure (sitting, a snug waistband, tight leg elastics, leaning against a firm surface) physically pushes liquid back out of a microfiber insert that isn't fully saturated. The outside of the diaper feels dry, but liquid has been squeezed toward the skin or toward the leg gaps. This is what the bamboo-cotton booster catches.
Which size should I order?
Match the booster size to your shell or fitted diaper size. If you wear a medium shell, order the medium booster. The sizing is intentionally aligned so the folded booster fits neatly inside the corresponding shell size. If you're using a non-EcoAble shell, match to its labeled size — small, medium, or large.
Can I use the booster without a snap-in insert?
In some cases, yes — particularly inside a diaper cover where the booster can sit directly against the cover's inner surface, or inside a fitted diaper for overnight use. However, if you're using a microfiber insert and specifically dealing with compression leaks, the booster belongs underneath the insert, not instead of it. The insert still handles the fast initial absorption; the booster backs it up under pressure.
Can this be used overnight?
Yes. Overnight is where this booster earns its place — you're lying down, shifting positions, and compression leaks from a microfiber insert are far more likely than during active daytime wear. Pairing the booster with a snap-in insert inside a waterproof shell, or laying it inside a fitted diaper for heavier overnight needs, is the most common use case.
How many do I need?
At minimum, one per shell in your regular rotation. Many customers keep 1–2 extras so there's always a dry booster available while others are washing. Because bamboo-cotton holds moisture more firmly than microfiber, it can take a little longer to dry than a snap-in insert — a slightly larger rotation helps if you're using it daily.
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
What's included in this listing?
One bamboo-cotton prefold booster pad in the size you select. No shell, insert, or fitted diaper is included — those are sold separately or as part of complete kits.
