EcoAble Adult Snap-In Insert — Reusable Absorbent Layer for Any EcoAble Adult Cloth Diaper
A reusable bamboo-rayon and microfiber snap-in insert that adds absorbency to any EcoAble adult waterproof shell. It's the central absorbent layer in our cloth diaper system — the same insert works daytime, pairs with a prefold booster for heavier daytime needs, and pairs with a fitted diaper for overnight protection.
The absorbent layer in EcoAble's adult cloth diaper system

EcoAble adult cloth diapers are built as a two-part system: a waterproof shell that contains leaks, and an absorbent layer that captures and holds moisture. The snap-in insert is the absorbent layer — it snaps inside the shell, sits against your skin (or inside the pocket, depending on which shell you're using), and does the actual absorbing.

It's designed to be the most flexible absorbent component in the line. On its own inside a shell, it handles light to moderate daytime incontinence. Stacked with a prefold booster, it handles heavy daytime use. Paired with a fitted diaper inside a shell, it becomes part of an overnight system.

The insert is not waterproof on its own
The snap-in insert is an absorbent layer only — it has no waterproofing. It must be used inside a compatible EcoAble waterproof shell (Pocket Diaper 2.0, Diaper Cover 2.0, or Pull-On Diaper 2.0) to prevent leaks.

Works with every EcoAble adult waterproof shell

All EcoAble adult shells use the same snap system, so the insert attaches the same way to each one. Match the insert size to the shell size — small insert for small shell, medium for medium, large for large.

Pocket Diaper 2.0
Slides into the pocket opening at the back of the shell. Snaps at the hips hold it in place.

Diaper Cover 2.0
Lays directly inside the cover and snaps into place at the hips. No pocket — the insert sits against your skin.

Pull-On Diaper 2.0
Snaps inside the pull-on shell for pull-up style wear with the same absorbent layer.

One insert, three levels of protection

The same snap-in insert works across multiple setups depending on what you pair it with. This is what makes it the most-used accessory in our adult cloth diaper line.

Light to moderate
Insert + shell
The snap-in insert alone, inside a Pocket Diaper, Diaper Cover, or Pull-On shell. A straightforward daytime setup for regular light to moderate incontinence. The most common pairing.
Heavy daytime
Insert + prefold booster + shell
A bamboo-cotton prefold booster pad placed underneath the snap-in insert inside the shell. Significantly increases total absorbency for heavier voids or longer stretches between changes, and the bamboo-cotton also catches compression leaks that microfiber can release under pressure.
Overnight
Insert + fitted diaper + shell
A full-coverage fitted diaper worn inside the shell with the snap-in insert laid on top. The highest-capacity configuration, designed for overnight protection or heavy incontinence needs.

Prefold booster pads and fitted diapers are sold separately. The shell you're pairing with is also sold separately if you don't already have one.

Sized by insert length — not hip circumference

Unlike shells, inserts are sized by their length. The right size matches the shell size you already have — a small shell takes the small insert, medium takes medium, large takes large. If you don't know your shell size, check the label inside it or the order confirmation from when you bought it.

Small
22 inches
Matches small shells. Fits youth and smaller adult sizes.
Medium
24.5 inches
Matches medium shells. The most common adult size.
Large
31 inches
Matches large shells. Extended length for fuller coverage.

What the insert brings to a cloth diaper system

Bamboo-rayon surface
The outer layer is 100% rayon from bamboo — soft, moisture-wicking, and gentle on skin during extended wear.

Microfiber absorbent core
The microfiber core pulls liquid in quickly — faster than most natural fibers. The trade-off is that microfiber can release some moisture back out under pressure; for heavy use or overnight, pairing with a bamboo-cotton prefold booster underneath catches what compression releases.

Secure snap-in fit
Snaps lock the insert into the shell so it stays positioned correctly through movement — no bunching, no shifting during the day.

Reusable — machine washable
Wash after each use alongside your shell. Most customers keep several inserts in rotation so there's always a clean one ready.

What the insert is made of
Outer surface
100% Rayon from Bamboo — soft, moisture-wicking, and naturally odor-reducing. This is the layer closest to your skin (or to the shell's inner lining, depending on which shell you're using).
Absorbent core
100% Microfiber — the high-capacity absorbent layer at the center of the insert. Captures liquid quickly and holds it away from the surface.

Is this the right product for you?
This insert is right for you if...
You have an EcoAble waterproof shell — Pocket Diaper, Diaper Cover, or Pull-On — and need to add absorbency to it. Or you're expanding your rotation and want additional inserts to cycle through the wash. The snap-in insert is the standard absorbent component for the EcoAble adult cloth diaper line, used in almost every system configuration we sell.
Need heavier protection?
If the snap-in insert alone isn't enough, add a bamboo-cotton prefold booster underneath it for heavier daytime needs — the booster adds capacity and also catches compression leaks microfiber can release under pressure. For overnight protection, pair the insert with a fitted diaper inside the shell. Both are sold separately. Our Maximum Protection and Day & Night Set kits bundle these together if you'd prefer a complete configuration out of the box.
Don't have a shell yet?
The insert needs a waterproof shell to work. If you're starting from scratch, our Pocket Diaper 2.0 or Diaper Cover 2.0 kits with the snap-in insert already included are usually the more practical starting point than buying the two pieces separately.

Washing instructions
Machine washable Cold or warm rinse first No fabric softeners Air dry or tumble low

Cold or warm rinse cycle first, then a full wash with detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat bamboo and microfiber fibers and reduce absorbency over time. Inserts can be tumble dried on low or air dried; tumble drying is fine for regular use.

Frequently asked questions
Which EcoAble shells does this insert work with?
All three adult waterproof shells we make: the Pocket Diaper 2.0, the Diaper Cover 2.0, and the Pull-On Diaper 2.0. They all use the same snap system, so the insert attaches the same way to each. Match the insert size to the shell size.
Is this insert just for daytime use?
No — this is a common misconception. The snap-in insert works across three configurations: on its own inside a shell for light to moderate daytime incontinence; paired with a prefold booster for heavy daytime needs; and paired with a fitted diaper inside a shell for overnight protection. The same insert is the central absorbent component in all three setups.
How do I know which size to order?
Match the insert size to your shell size. Small shell takes the small insert (22"), medium shell takes medium (24.5"), large shell takes large (31"). If you're unsure what size shell you have, check the label inside it or look up your shell order.
Can I use this insert without a shell?
No. The insert is absorbent only — it has no waterproofing. Without a waterproof shell around it, it will not prevent leaks. It must be snapped inside a compatible EcoAble waterproof shell to work correctly.
What if one insert isn't enough absorbency?
Two options, depending on what's happening. If the insert is reaching capacity before you're ready to change — add a bamboo-cotton prefold booster underneath it for heavier daytime needs, or pair with a fitted diaper inside the shell for overnight. If you're getting “sudden” leaks where the insert still feels mostly dry, that's likely compression leaks from microfiber releasing moisture under pressure — a bamboo-cotton prefold booster underneath the insert catches what the microfiber releases. Either way, the booster is a common add-on. Booster pads and fitted diapers are sold separately.
How many inserts should I buy?
Most people find it practical to have at least as many inserts as shells — one per shell at minimum. Inserts wash and dry quickly, so a rotation of 3–5 keeps you covered without a large upfront investment. If you're using a Diaper Cover that can be wiped and reused between washes, you'll generally need more inserts than covers in rotation.
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
What's included in this listing?
One snap-in insert in the size you select. No shell, booster, or fitted diaper is included. Shells and other absorbency accessories are sold separately.
