16 × 27 inches · two compartments · nylon carry handles
EcoAble Large Wet-Dry Bag — 16 × 27 Inch Reusable Tote for Beach, Pool, Travel, Cloth Diapers, and Full-Day Use
A large, hangable wet-dry bag with two zippered compartments and sturdy nylon carry handles. Big enough to work as a standalone beach tote, a full day's cloth diaper bag, a hanging pail liner at home, or a travel laundry carrier. Water-resistant PUL fabric contains damp items without the contents soaking through to the outside.
What it is
A large, multi-use wet-dry bag for full-day and family needs
The EcoAble Large Wet-Dry Bag is the biggest size in our wet bag line. At 16 × 27 inches, it functions less like a packable accessory and more like a primary carry bag — large enough to hold a full day's worth of wet and dry items for one person, or multiple people's swim and change gear, or a home's soiled cloth diaper collection between washes.
The bag has two zippered compartments so wet items stay separated from dry ones, sturdy nylon carry handles so you can use it as a tote, and a built-in hang loop so it can stay in one place as a bathroom or nursery pail liner. Made from soft, water-resistant Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) — the same fabric used in cloth diaper shells and reusable menstrual products.
Common uses
What the large size is built for
The 16 × 27 inch size opens up uses that the smaller wet bag can't handle — full-day outings, multi-person trips, and stay-in-place home organization:
Beach & pool days
Works as a standalone beach tote — holds towels, swimsuits, sunscreen, snacks, and a change of clothes, with one compartment reserved for the wet gear when you pack up to leave.
Cloth diaper pail liner
Hangs in a bathroom or nursery as a pail-liner substitute. Holds a full day of used adult or baby cloth diapers between washes. When it's time to wash, unhang the bag, empty the contents into the machine, and toss the bag in with the diapers.
Travel laundry
Carries dirty laundry on multi-day trips. Separates clean clothes in the front pocket from soiled ones in the main compartment. Water-resistant fabric contains damp items and limits odor during travel.
Gym & sports teams
Big enough to hold a full set of practice gear — jerseys, shorts, wet towels, cleats or gym shoes — with separation between soiled items and a clean change.
Family swim outings
Holds wet swimsuits and towels for multiple children or a whole family after a pool or splash-pad trip. Bigger than most individual swim bags combined.
Menstrual product & period gear
For families or individuals using reusable period products, large enough to hold multiple days' worth between washes. The water-resistant lining and zipper closures contain odor.
Breast pump parts & nursing supplies
Holds pump parts, bottles, burp cloths, and damp nursing pads together in one place. Water-resistant liner contains any leaks during transport or storage.
Emergency & daycare bag
Pre-pack a change of clothes, wipes, and a small towel for daycare handoffs or emergency spills. Works as a grab-and-go bag that lives by the door.
Honest note on capacity
Water-resistant, not a submersion dry bag
Built for damp, not for dripping or soaking
The PUL fabric is water-resistant and contains moisture from damp items — swimsuits you've wrung out, sweaty clothes, used cloth diapers, wet towels. It's not a sealed dry bag designed to hold standing water or items that are actively dripping. Wring out soaking items before putting them in so the bag isn't holding loose liquid. For kayaking or submersion use, a roll-top dry bag is the right tool. For normal wet-items-coming-home-from-somewhere use, this is exactly what it needs to be.
Key features
What the large size offers
Sturdy nylon carry handles
Unlike the smaller wet bag, this size has full-length nylon handles so you can carry it like a tote. Strong enough to hold the weight of wet towels, multiple swimsuits, or a full diaper load without stretching.
Two zippered compartments
A large main compartment plus a smaller front pocket, each with its own zipper. Separates wet or soiled items from clean or dry ones without the contents mixing.
Hanging loop
Works as a stay-in-place pail liner — hang it on a bathroom door, nursery hook, or laundry room for a dedicated soiled-items bag. Easier than a traditional diaper pail because the bag itself goes in the wash.
Water-resistant PUL fabric
Soft Polyurethane Laminate — quiet, flexible, and contains moisture without being stiff or noisy. The same material used in cloth diaper shells.
Machine washable
Wash with your regular laundry. PUL holds up through hundreds of wash cycles without losing water resistance, so this bag is a long-term product — not something to throw away after heavy use.
Quick-drying fabric
Dries fast after washing or when the interior gets damp. Hanging to dry is gentlest on the fabric and extends the waterproof layer's life; the bag is typically ready to reuse within a few hours.
A practical tip
Consider buying two for heavy use
Rotation makes daily use easier
If you're using this as a cloth diaper pail liner or for daily laundry storage, two bags in rotation work better than one. While one is in the wash, the other stays hung up and in use. This is the same principle as rotating cloth diaper shells — more pieces in rotation means less strain on any individual bag and longer overall product life.
Specifications
Dimensions and materials
Dimensions
16 × 27 inches (41 × 69 cm). Two zippered compartments, sturdy nylon carry handles, plus a hanging loop.
Material
Water-resistant Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) shell with nylon handles. Soft, flexible, and durable through repeated washing.
A note on the zippers
Wet bag zippers often arrive with the teeth slightly misaligned from the factory — this is normal. Zip the slider all the way across and back a couple of times and the zipper will work normally. See the FAQ for details.
Honest assessment
Is this the right size for you?
The large size is right for you if...
You need a bag that can handle full-day outings, multiple people's gear, or stay-in-place home use as a pail liner. Common fits include a family's post-pool gear, a full day of cloth diapers, several days of travel laundry, or a hanging nursery/bathroom bag for soiled items. If you regularly reach for a beach tote plus a plastic bag for wet items, this replaces both.
You may want the smaller size instead if...
You just need a packable bag for one person's gym clothes or a single swimsuit — this size will feel bulky for that use. Our 12 × 14 inch wet-dry bag is easier to tuck into a larger bag or carry for shorter outings. The large size is optimized for full-load use, not quick errands.
On long-term value
This bag is designed to replace disposable plastic bags for years of regular use, not one trip. Customers using it as a cloth diaper pail liner typically keep the same bag in rotation for multiple years. Avoiding fabric softeners and bleach is the main thing that extends its life; hang-drying also helps.
Care
Washing and drying
Machine washable No bleach or fabric softeners Hang dry or tumble low Hundreds of washes
Machine wash with regular detergent, warm or cold. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners — softeners coat PUL and reduce its water resistance over time. Hang drying is gentlest on the fabric and extends the life of the waterproof layer; tumble dry on low is fine for regular use. The bag dries quickly either way — usually ready to reuse within a few hours of hanging.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How big is 16 × 27 inches in practice?
Roughly the size of a large tote bag or kitchen trash can liner. It holds a family's worth of post-pool gear (multiple swimsuits plus towels), a full day of used cloth diapers, or about a standard wash load of laundry. Noticeably larger than most "wet bag" products on the market, which is why we call it the Large size.
My zipper feels stuck or won't close properly when the bag arrives — is it broken?
Almost certainly not. Wet bag zippers often ship with the teeth slightly misaligned from the factory — it's a quirk of how these bags are folded and packed, not a defect. The fix takes about ten seconds: zip the slider all the way across and then back again, a couple of times. That realigns the teeth and the zipper will work normally from then on. If the zipper is genuinely damaged after that, contact us and we'll replace the bag.
Can I use this as a cloth diaper pail liner?
Yes — it's one of the most common uses. Hang the bag from the included loop in a bathroom or nursery, drop used diapers in, zip the main compartment closed between changes to contain odor. On laundry day, empty the diapers into the washer and toss the bag in with them. It's simpler than a traditional diaper pail because the bag itself is washable.
Is the bag completely waterproof?
It's water-resistant, not sealed. The PUL fabric contains moisture from damp items — wet swimsuits, used diapers, sweaty clothes — without the contents soaking through to the outside. It's not designed to hold standing water or submerged items. For that kind of use (kayaking, beach gear in wet sand) a sealed roll-top dry bag is the better choice.
Can I put soaking wet items inside?
Wring out anything that's actively dripping before it goes in, so the bag isn't sitting with standing water at the bottom. Damp items — a wrung-out swimsuit, sweaty workout clothes, a used cloth diaper — go in as-is. The fabric contains the moisture, but it isn't designed to pool liquid.
How long does it last?
With regular use and proper care (no fabric softener or bleach, hang dry when possible), PUL wet bags typically last multiple years. The fabric holds up through hundreds of wash cycles without losing water resistance. Zippers and seams are usually what show wear first, well after the bag has paid for itself many times over vs. disposable plastic.
Should I buy more than one?
For daily use as a pail liner or home laundry bag, two is more convenient than one — you can always have one in rotation while the other is being washed. For occasional travel or pool use, one is usually enough.
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
