Shell only · pairs with your choice of absorbency
EcoAble Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 — Reusable Adult Diaper Shell
A waterproof pocket shell with a soft bamboo-rayon inner lining and a thin built-in booster in the wet zone. Handles light leaks on its own and pairs with a snap-in insert, booster pad, or fitted diaper for fuller protection. Works for urinary and bowel incontinence. Shell only — no add-on insert included.
Who this is for
A flexible base layer for a reusable incontinence system
This is the Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 shell on its own — the waterproof outer layer that does the containment work in a reusable adult cloth diaper system. It's for people who already own absorbency (inserts, boosters, or fitted diapers), who want to build a custom setup, or who need a replacement shell for an existing rotation.
Unlike a plain waterproof cover, this shell has two things built in: a soft bamboo-rayon lining that sits against your skin, and a thin booster sewn into the wet zone. Together they handle light urinary leaks and minor bowel accidents on their own. For regular daytime incontinence, overnight protection, or heavier needs, pair it with a snap-in insert, booster pad, or fitted diaper.
Looking for a complete system instead?
If you need protection for regular daytime incontinence and don't already own absorbency, the Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 + Snap-In Insert kit is the more practical starting point. This shell-only listing is best when you already have inserts or want to mix and match absorbency layers.
How this differs from our Diaper Cover 2.0
The Pocket Diaper has a soft bamboo-rayon inner lining with a pocket opening — you tuck an insert inside the pocket, and the lining sits against your skin. It also has a thin built-in booster in the wet zone, so it holds a little more on its own. The Diaper Cover has no fabric lining and no built-in absorbency, but it uses a double layer of PUL — a stronger, more durable waterproof barrier. Instead of a pocket, the Cover lets you lay an insert directly inside, or wrap around a fitted diaper or a disposable. The Pocket Diaper is simpler, more cushioned, and slightly more absorbent on its own; the Diaper Cover has a tougher waterproof shell and pairs with more kinds of absorbency.
How the system works
Absorbency is added separately — match it to your needs
The shell is one half of a two-part system. It holds everything in place, keeps moisture contained, and sits against your skin with its soft inner lining. The other half is the absorbent layer, which you choose based on how much protection you need.
Shell aloneThis product
Very light protection. Waterproof PUL outer plus a thin built-in booster in the wet zone — catches small leaks, dribbles, and minor bowel accidents. Not designed to contain a full void; add absorbency for regular incontinence.
Shell + snap-in insert
Light to moderate daytime protection. The snap-in insert adds meaningful absorbency for regular daytime wear. The most common pairing for this shell.
Shell + insert + prefold booster
Moderate to heavy protection. Adds bulk but handles longer stretches between changes or heavier voids.
Shell + insert + fitted diaper
Overnight or heavy protection. A fitted diaper worn inside the shell with a snap-in insert on top gives the highest absorbency, designed for nighttime use.
Snap-in inserts, prefold booster pads, and fitted diapers are all sold separately.
Key features
What the shell brings on its own
Waterproof PUL outer
A polyurethane laminate outer acts as the moisture barrier. Quiet in movement, soft to the touch, and doesn't crinkle like disposables.
Bamboo-rayon inner lining
The layer that sits against your skin is 100% rayon from bamboo — soft, moisture-wicking, and gentle during extended wear. Absent from plain covers like our Diaper Cover 2.0.
Built-in wet-zone booster
A thin absorbent booster sewn into the wet zone handles small leaks and dribbles on its own — so the shell isn't purely a waterproof layer like a standard cover.
Adjustable hip tabs and rise
Snap tabs at the hips and rise snaps at the front let you dial in the fit across a wide hip range. Keeps leg openings sealed without digging in.
Pocket opening for inserts
An opening at the back of the shell holds a snap-in insert or stuffed absorbent layer in place. Inserts stay put through movement rather than shifting around.
Reusable — wash and repeat
Machine washable. A small rotation of shells lasts through years of daily use and cuts ongoing disposable costs significantly.
Materials
What the shell is made of
Outer layer
100% Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) — the waterproof barrier. Flexible, quiet, and durable through repeated washing.
Inner lining
100% Rayon from Bamboo — the layer that sits next to your skin. Soft, moisture-wicking, and naturally odor-reducing.
Built-in wet-zone booster
A thin bamboo-rayon booster sewn into the front wet zone. Catches small leaks so the shell isn't purely waterproof — it has a small amount of absorbency built in.
Sizing
Sized by hip circumference — not waist
Measure around the widest part of your hips, below the hip bone. Do not use your waist measurement — fit depends on hip circumference.
| Size |
Hip circumference |
Rise |
| Small |
26–42 in (66–107 cm) |
23–27 in (59–69 cm) |
| Medium |
30–45 in (77–114 cm) |
28–33 in (71–84 cm) |
| Large |
36–55 in (92–140 cm) |
32–38 in (81–95 cm) |
If you're between sizes, size up for comfort and a better leak seal at the legs.
Honest assessment
Is this the right product for you?
This is right for you if...
You already own snap-in inserts, booster pads, or fitted diapers and need a shell to go with them. Or you're building a rotation and want to add another shell to an existing system. Or you need a replacement for a worn-out shell.
You probably want a kit instead if...
This is your first reusable adult diaper and you don't yet own absorbency. The shell alone will not hold up to regular daytime incontinence. The Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 + Snap-In Insert kit gives you a working setup out of the box at a better price than buying the two pieces separately.
On fit and discretion
The shell has a lower profile than most traditional adult diapers. Paired with a thin insert, it stays reasonably discreet under looser trousers, longer tops, and A-line styles. Fitted jeans or tight athletic wear may show some outline, especially once absorbency is added. That's true of any absorbent undergarment.
Care
Washing instructions
Machine washable Cold or warm rinse first No fabric softeners Air dry or tumble low
Cold or warm rinse cycle first, then a full wash with detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat bamboo and microfiber fibers and reduce absorbency over time. Air drying is best for the PUL shell; inserts and absorbent layers can be tumble dried on low.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Why would I buy just the shell?
Three common reasons: you already own inserts or fitted diapers and need a shell to go with them; you're expanding your rotation and want another shell to cycle through the wash; or you're replacing a worn-out shell. If none of these apply, a kit with absorbency included is usually the better starting point.
What absorbency do I pair this with?
For light to moderate daytime use, pair it with an EcoAble snap-in insert. For heavier daytime needs, add a prefold booster pad on top of the insert. For overnight or heavy incontinence, use a fitted diaper inside the shell with a snap-in insert on top. All three absorbency options are sold separately on our site.
Can I wear the shell without any insert?
Only for very light protection. The built-in wet-zone booster catches small urinary leaks, dribbles, and minor bowel accidents, but it's not designed to contain a full void. For regular incontinence you'll want to add a snap-in insert or other absorbency.
What's the difference between this and the Diaper Cover 2.0?
The Pocket Diaper has a soft bamboo-rayon lining and a pocket opening for inserts, plus a thin built-in booster in the wet zone that gives it a small amount of absorbency on its own. The Diaper Cover is a plain waterproof shell — no lining, no built-in absorbency — but it uses a double layer of PUL for a tougher waterproof barrier and pairs with more kinds of absorbency (inserts laid inside, fitted diapers, or disposables wrapped with the hip tabs). Pocket for a softer, more cushioned next-to-skin feel; Cover for a more durable shell and more flexible pairings.
Does this shell fit EcoAble's snap-in inserts?
Yes. The Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 shell is designed to work with EcoAble adult snap-in inserts — match the insert size to the shell size (small insert for small shell, and so on).
How many shells should I have in rotation?
Most users find 3–5 shells comfortable for daily use — enough to wear, wash, and dry without running short. Because the lining sits against your skin, pocket diapers need a full wash after each use (unlike a plain cover, which can be wiped and reused several times).
Does this work for bowel incontinence?
Yes. The waterproof PUL outer contains both urinary and bowel leakage. The shell alone handles minor bowel accidents; for more significant needs, pair it with a snap-in insert or fitted diaper. Rinse solids before washing as you would with any cloth diaper.
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
What's included in this listing?
One Pocket Cloth Diaper 2.0 shell. No insert or absorbency accessory is included. Inserts, booster pads, and fitted diapers are sold separately.
