EcoAble Wet-Dry Bag — 12 × 14 Inch Reusable Travel Bag for Swim, Gym, Travel, and Daily Organization
A reusable, water-resistant bag with two zippered compartments — one for wet items, one for dry. Built for the realistic messes of daily life: damp swimsuits, sweaty gym clothes, wet towels, cloth diapers, toiletries, and anything else you need to carry without mixing the wet with the dry. Machine washable and designed to be used for years, not thrown away after one trip.
What it is
A reusable wet-dry bag built for real-world use
The EcoAble Wet-Dry Bag is a mid-size travel and organization bag made from soft, water-resistant Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) — the same fabric used in cloth diaper shells and reusable menstrual products. Two zippered compartments let you separate wet or soiled items from clean or dry items in the same bag, without the contents mixing. A hanging loop at the top makes it easy to clip onto a stroller, hook on a locker door, or hang by a pool chair.
At 12 × 14 inches, it's large enough to hold a full change of clothes plus wet items, small enough to tuck into a larger travel bag, diaper bag, or carry-on. It replaces the disposable plastic bags most people end up reaching for when something is wet, dirty, or leaky.
Common uses
What people actually use these bags for
The two-compartment design makes this bag useful in a lot of everyday situations where the single-purpose version of each product would otherwise be a disposable plastic bag:
Swim & pool days
Wet swimsuit and towel in one compartment, dry change of clothes and sunscreen in the other. The water-resistant liner keeps the rest of your bag dry when you pack up to leave.
Gym & workout gear
Sweaty workout clothes and damp towel on one side, clean clothes or shoes on the other. Contains the smell until you get home and can throw everything in the wash.
Travel & packing
Separate dirty laundry from clean clothes inside a suitcase. Keep toiletries contained in case something leaks. Handy for the end of a trip when you have wet swimwear or damp gear to pack.
Reusable cloth diapers
Transport clean diapers in one compartment, bring used ones home in the other. The water-resistant PUL contains moisture and limits odor between changes.
Reusable menstrual products
Carry clean pads or cups in one compartment and used ones in the other until you can wash them at home. A practical alternative to single-use disposable bags.
Kids' spare clothes & daycare
Clean change of clothes in one side, soiled or wet clothes in the other. Easy to hand off to a caregiver or grab on the way out the door.
Wet umbrellas & muddy shoes
Catch a dripping umbrella, stash muddy shoes after a hike, or contain anything damp you need to get home without soaking the rest of your bag.
Toy & gear organization
Keep small toys, craft supplies, electronics chargers, or travel gadgets contained and findable. The water-resistant liner also protects against accidental spills.
Honest note on capacity
Built for damp, not for dripping
Water-resistant, not a dry bag for submersion
The PUL fabric is water-resistant and contains moisture from damp items — swimsuits after you've wrung them out, sweaty workout clothes, used cloth diapers, wet towels. It's not a waterproof dry bag designed to hold freely sloshing liquid or items that are actively dripping. For that kind of use, you'd want a sealed dry bag designed for kayaking or submersion. For normal wet-items-coming-home-from-somewhere use, the wet-dry bag is exactly what it needs to be.
Key features
What makes this design work
Two zippered compartments
A larger main compartment for bulk items and a smaller front pocket for clean or dry essentials. Separate zippers keep the contents of each side from mixing.
Water-resistant PUL fabric
Soft Polyurethane Laminate is the same fabric used in reusable cloth diapers and period products — quiet, flexible, and contains moisture without being stiff or crinkly.
Hanging loop
A sturdy loop at the top lets you clip the bag to a stroller, gym locker door, or any hook. Keeps it off the floor and easy to grab.
Machine washable
Toss it in with a regular wash when it needs cleaning. PUL holds up to hundreds of wash cycles without losing its water resistance, so the bag is a long-term replacement for disposable plastic — not a one-trip item.
Quick-drying
After washing or if the interior gets wet, the fabric dries quickly — usually ready to reuse within a few hours of air drying.
Mid-size for versatility
12 × 14 inches — large enough for a full change of clothes plus wet items, small enough to pack inside a larger bag or carry on its own.
Specifications
Dimensions and materials
Dimensions
12 × 14 inches (30 × 36 cm). Two zippered compartments plus a hanging loop at the top.
Material
Water-resistant Polyurethane Laminate (PUL) — the same fabric used in cloth diaper shells. Soft, flexible, durable through repeated washing.
A note on the zippers
Wet bag zippers often arrive with the teeth slightly misaligned from the factory — this is normal. Zip the slider all the way across and back a couple of times and the zipper will work normally. See the FAQ for details.
Honest assessment
Is this the right bag for you?
This bag works well if...
You regularly end up with a mix of wet and dry items to carry — pool and beach days, gym workouts, travel, cloth diapers, kids' spare clothes — and you're tired of reaching for disposable plastic bags every time. The two-compartment design and water-resistant fabric replace a plastic bag you'd otherwise throw away with something you'll use for years.
You may want a different product if...
You need to carry genuinely dripping or submerged items — like gear for kayaking, items that sit in standing water, or bottles that might leak freely. A sealed roll-top dry bag designed for submersion would be the better tool for that job. The wet-dry bag handles damp, not soaked-through-and-pouring-out.
On long-term value
This bag is designed to replace disposable plastic bags across many scenarios, not just one. Customers typically use it for years before needing to replace it. If you currently keep a stash of plastic grocery bags around for wet swimsuits, dirty laundry on trips, or containing messes, one of these bags replaces most of that stash.
Care
Washing and drying
Machine washable No bleach or fabric softeners Air dry or tumble low Hundreds of washes
Machine wash with regular detergent, warm or cold. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners — softeners coat PUL and reduce its water resistance over time. Air drying is gentlest on the fabric and extends the life of the waterproof layer; tumble dry on low is fine for regular use. The bag dries quickly either way — usually ready to reuse within a few hours of air drying.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How big is 12 × 14 inches in practice?
Roughly the size of a large magazine or a reusable grocery tote. It holds a full adult-size change of clothes plus towel, or a swimsuit and cover-up plus sunscreen and snacks, or several cloth diapers plus inserts. Small enough to fit inside a beach bag, gym bag, or suitcase, but large enough to use on its own for shorter outings.
My zipper feels stuck or won't close properly when the bag arrives — is it broken?
Almost certainly not. Wet bag zippers often ship with the teeth slightly misaligned from the factory — it's a quirk of how these bags are folded and packed, not a defect. The fix takes about ten seconds: zip the slider all the way across and then back again, a couple of times. That realigns the teeth and the zipper will work normally from then on. If the zipper is genuinely damaged after that, contact us and we'll replace the bag.
Is this bag completely waterproof?
It's water-resistant, not fully waterproof. The PUL fabric contains moisture from damp items — swimsuits, wet towels, used cloth diapers, sweaty clothes — without the water soaking through to the outside. It's not designed to hold freely sloshing liquid or to be submerged. For that kind of use, you'd want a sealed roll-top dry bag.
Can I put wet items directly inside?
Yes — damp items go right in. Wring out anything that's actively dripping first so the bag isn't holding standing water. For a wet swimsuit or damp towel, a quick wring-out before it goes in is enough; for a sweaty workout shirt or used cloth diaper, you can put it in as-is.
Does it contain odor?
It contains odor significantly better than an open or non-sealed bag. The zippered closure plus the water-resistant lining keeps smells from spreading to the rest of your bag or car. For longer storage (more than a day or two) of strongly soiled items, transferring them to a washing machine is still the best move.
Can I use this as a reusable grocery bag?
It works for that, though it's optimized for a different purpose — the water-resistant PUL makes more sense for wet or soiled items than for general shopping. If you're carrying cold or wet groceries (ice, produce that's been sprayed, anything leaking) it'd do fine. For dry shopping, a lighter canvas tote is probably simpler.
How long does the bag last?
With regular use and proper care (avoiding fabric softeners and bleach), PUL bags typically last years. The fabric holds up through hundreds of wash cycles without losing water resistance. Zippers and seams are usually what wear out first, well after most disposable alternatives would have been thrown away.
Does it come in different sizes?
This listing is for the 12 × 14 inch size. Other wet-dry bag sizes are available in our store if you need something smaller (for a purse or gym locker) or larger (for a full beach trip or travel laundry).
Is shipping discreet?
Yes. All EcoAble orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside.
