Description

Overnight Fitted Diaper · Stay-Dry · One Size

The high-capacity fitted diaper that keeps skin feeling dry

A hemp-cotton fitted diaper built for overnight use, with a bamboo rayon inner lining that wicks moisture away so your baby's skin stays feeling dry even as the diaper holds wetness.

Fitted diaper only — needs a waterproof cover
This is the absorbent core of an overnight system, not a complete diaper. It must be paired with a waterproof cover (PUL or wool) to prevent leaks onto pajamas and bedding. For a complete bundled system, see the EcoAble Overnight Cloth Diaper Set.

One fitted diaper with two inserts

Each pack of 1 includes the fitted diaper body and two hemp-cotton inserts that layer inside it. Together, the three pieces form the absorbent half of an overnight cloth diaper — designed to work as a set.

The diaper body
Stay-Dry Hemp Fitted Diaper

Absorbs moisture · Worn next to skin

A fitted diaper is a cloth diaper shaped like a regular diaper — with elastics around the legs and back waist for a close, secure fit — but without a waterproof outer layer. It does the absorbing; the cover (sold separately) does the containing.

This version is lined on the skin-facing side with bamboo rayon, which wicks moisture away from the surface so your baby's skin stays feeling dry.

The inserts
Long Insert + Short Insert

Layer inside the fitted diaper to boost absorbency

The long insert is foldable, which lets you customize where the absorbency sits — fold it toward the front for a boy, toward the middle for a girl, or flat for balanced coverage. It also dries faster than a single thick pad.

The short insert sits on top of the long one, lined with bamboo rayon for an extra wicking layer right against your baby's skin.

When this is the right pick

Heavy overnight wetters
Designed for 10–12 hour overnight stretches. Hemp-cotton holds substantially more moisture than a daytime insert, and the layered construction means you can adjust absorbency to match your baby's needs.
Babies with sensitive skin
The bamboo rayon lining wicks moisture away from the skin — helpful for babies who get rashes from prolonged contact with wet fabric, or who stir easily when they feel wet against natural fibers.
Parents who already have a waterproof cover
If you already own a PUL or wool cover that fits your baby, this fitted diaper slots straight into your existing setup. No need to buy a cover again.
Parents building an overnight stash
The multi-pack options (2 or 4) let you build a rotation of fitted diapers without buying duplicate covers. A single cover can be used with several fitted diapers across consecutive nights between washes.

Stay-Dry or All-Natural?

EcoAble offers two versions of this overnight fitted diaper. Both have identical hemp-cotton absorbent cores — they absorb the same amount and perform the same overnight. The difference is what touches your baby's skin.

Stay-Dry (this product) All-Natural (sold separately)
Bamboo rayon lining on the skin-facing side 100% natural fibers throughout — no synthetic layers
Wicks moisture away from the skin surface Absorbs without wicking — natural fibers hold moisture
Baby feels drier even as the diaper holds wetness Baby will feel wetness sooner as it absorbs
Better for babies who stir easily or are sensitive to feeling wet Better for parents avoiding synthetics or babies with fabric sensitivities
Same overnight capacity — choose on feel

This isn't a performance trade-off. Both versions use the same 4-layer hemp-cotton absorbent core and handle the same volume over the same stretch. The decision is purely about what you want against your baby's skin. If you'd prefer no synthetic fibers against skin, see the All-Natural Hemp Night Fitted Diaper.

Setting up for overnight, step by step

If you've never used a fitted diaper before, this walks through the full bedtime routine.

1
Pre-wash 2–3 times before first use
Hemp-cotton reaches full absorbency after several wash cycles as the fibers open up. Washing 2–3 times before first use is important — the first night's performance is not representative of long-term performance. Absorbency continues to improve noticeably over the first 5–8 washes.
2
Lay the long insert inside the fitted diaper
Fold the long insert to position the absorbency where your baby needs it most — front-folded for boys, center-folded for girls, flat for balanced coverage. Place it flat inside the fitted diaper.
3
Place the short insert on top
Lay the short insert on top of the long insert, centered, with the bamboo rayon side facing up — toward your baby's skin. This is the stay-dry layer that keeps your baby's skin feeling dry overnight.
4
Fasten the fitted diaper on your baby
Put the fitted diaper on like a regular diaper and fasten the snaps. The leg and waist elastics create a close, body-hugging fit. Check that the leg elastics lie flat and the back elastic is tucked in, not folded outward. You should be able to fit one finger underneath the leg elastics.
5
Put a waterproof cover over the fitted diaper
This step is essential. Pull a PUL or wool cover over the fitted diaper and fasten it. The cover goes on top, not underneath. Make sure no absorbent material sticks out past the cover edges — exposed fabric wicks moisture onto clothing and causes "leaks" that aren't really leaks.
6
In the morning: what to expect
The fitted diaper and inserts will feel wet and heavy — this is normal and correct. Hemp holds moisture fully rather than wicking it away (the bamboo lining handles the skin-side wicking). If there are no leaks onto pajamas or bedding, the system worked. A heavy wet fitted diaper in the morning means it did its job.
Need a cover?
If you don't already own a waterproof cover, the EcoAble Heavy Duty Diaper Cover is designed to pair with this fitted diaper, or go natural fiber with a Disana Wool Cover. For a complete bundled set, the Overnight Cloth Diaper Set includes this fitted diaper plus a PUL cover.

What makes this overnight-capable

01
Bamboo rayon stay-dry lining
The skin-facing side is lined with soft rayon from bamboo fleece, which wicks moisture away from the surface quickly. Your baby's skin stays feeling dry even as the hemp-cotton core beneath holds wetness.
02
Hemp-cotton high-capacity core
55% hemp, 45% organic cotton through the diaper body and both inserts. Hemp holds more moisture than microfiber or bamboo alone — it's the standard material for overnight cloth diapering because it handles long stretches without saturation.
03
Foldable long insert — faster drying
Instead of one thick pad, the long insert is a single layer folded to build absorbency where it's needed. This design washes more thoroughly and dries faster than built-in padding found in all-in-one diapers.
04
Adjustable one-size fit
Snap system adjusts to fit approximately 10–35 lbs — from around 2 months old through potty training. The same fitted diaper grows with your baby through most of the overnight diapering years.

What it's made from

Every layer is chosen for a specific job. Here's the full material breakdown.

Fitted Diaper Body

55% Hemp, 45% Organic Cotton · Lined 80% Rayon from Bamboo, 20% Polyester

The shell of the diaper. The hemp-cotton core absorbs and holds moisture through the night. The bamboo rayon lining — blended with a small percentage of polyester for durability and shape retention — wicks moisture away from the skin surface quickly, giving the diaper its "stay-dry" feel.

Long Insert

55% Hemp, 45% Organic Cotton

The primary absorber. Foldable single-layer design — fold it front-heavy, back-heavy, or flat depending on your baby's needs. Folding also means the insert washes cleaner and dries faster than a pre-sewn pad of equivalent capacity.

Short Insert (with Stay-Dry Layer)

55% Hemp, 45% Organic Cotton · Lined with 100% Rayon from Bamboo

Boosts total capacity and adds a second wicking layer right against your baby's skin. Sits on top of the folded long insert with the rayon side facing up.

One size that grows with your baby

The snap system adjusts for babies from approximately 10 to 35 lbs — from around 2 months old through potty training. Sizing is weight-based and may vary slightly by body shape.

Fit Setting Weight Range Approx. Age
Small 10–18 lbs ~2–9 months
Medium 18–26 lbs ~9–24 months
Large 26–35 lbs ~2 years through potty training
Expected shrinkage is designed in
Natural fibers shrink slightly after the first few washes — this is normal and is built into the sizing. The diaper is designed to fit correctly after pre-washing, not straight from the package. If your baby is between sizes or at the upper end of a weight range, size up.

Is this the right product for your baby?

A straight look at what this fitted diaper does well, what to expect from hemp, and what first-time cloth diaper parents should know.

Works well for
  • Heavy overnight wetters who soak through lighter cloth options or daytime diapers
  • Babies with sensitive skin who get rashes from prolonged wet contact — the bamboo rayon lining is designed for this
  • Parents who already have a waterproof cover and need just the fitted diaper
  • Building an overnight rotation — adding fitted diapers to use across multiple nights with a single cover
  • Babies who stir or wake when they feel wet — the stay-dry lining reduces wet-feel against skin
Worth knowing
  • This is not a complete overnight diaper on its own — a waterproof cover (PUL or wool) is required. Without a cover, moisture will pass through to pajamas and bedding
  • Hemp needs 2–3 pre-washes before first use, and absorbency continues improving for the first 5–8 washes. First-night performance is not representative
  • The fitted diaper will feel wet and heavy in the morning — this is normal with hemp and is not a sign of failure. If there are no leaks onto pajamas, the system is working
  • If you prefer no synthetic fibers in contact with your baby's skin, the All-Natural version of this diaper uses 100% natural fibers throughout
For first-time cloth diaper parents
  • A fitted diaper isn't a complete diaper on its own — it handles the absorbing, and a separate waterproof cover handles the containing. Both are needed
  • If you don't have a cover yet, the EcoAble Overnight Cloth Diaper Set bundles this fitted diaper with a PUL cover in one purchase — simpler starting point
  • Hemp has a slightly earthy smell when new and when damp. This is normal and fades with washing
  • Expect a short learning curve. Most parents find their preferred overnight routine within a week or two

Washing your fitted diaper

Pre-wash 2–3 times before first use Machine wash warm Tumble dry low or hang dry No fabric softeners No bleach No petroleum-based diaper creams

Pre-wash 2–3 times before first use — hemp needs this to reach a workable level of absorbency, and performance continues to improve over the first 5–8 washes. Machine wash in warm water with your regular detergent. Tumble dry on low, or hang dry. Avoid fabric softeners, which coat the hemp and cotton fibers and reduce absorbency over time. Avoid bleach, and avoid diaper creams that contain petroleum — these can create a waterproof barrier on the fabric that repels moisture instead of absorbing it.

What parents ask most

Including the questions that aren't obvious if you're new to fitted diapers.

Do I really need a cover, or can I use this on its own?
You need a cover. A fitted diaper absorbs moisture but has no waterproof layer — without a cover, moisture will soak through the diaper and onto your baby's pajamas and bedding. This isn't a minor leak; the diaper will effectively transfer all the wetness it holds. A waterproof cover (PUL or wool) is an essential part of the system, not an optional add-on. If you don't have a cover, buy one before using this diaper overnight.
What's the difference between the Stay-Dry and All-Natural versions?
The absorbent core is identical — both versions use the same 4-layer hemp-cotton construction and absorb the same amount. The difference is what touches your baby's skin. The Stay-Dry version (this product) is lined with bamboo rayon, which wicks moisture away from the skin so your baby feels drier. The All-Natural version has no synthetic layers — 100% natural fibers throughout, which means your baby will feel wetness sooner. It's a comfort preference, not a performance difference.
Is this the same fitted diaper that comes in the Overnight Set?
Yes — it's the same Stay-Dry fitted diaper with the same two inserts. The Overnight Cloth Diaper Set bundles this fitted diaper with a PUL waterproof cover in one purchase. If you need the cover too, the set is the simpler option. If you already have a cover, buying the fitted diaper on its own is more practical.
How should I fold the long insert?
Fold it to put the absorbency where your baby needs it most. For boys, fold the insert so the heavier portion sits at the front. For girls, fold it to center the absorbency. For balanced coverage, lay it flat or fold it to match your baby's sleep position (e.g. side sleepers benefit from slightly wider coverage). The insert's foldability is its main advantage over a fixed sewn-in pad — you can adjust it nightly if you want.
The diaper feels soaking wet in the morning. Is something wrong?
No — this is how hemp-cotton fitted diapers are supposed to work. Hemp absorbs moisture fully and holds it in the fibers rather than wicking it away (the bamboo lining handles the skin-side wicking). A heavy, wet diaper in the morning means it did its job. If there are no leaks onto pajamas or bedding, the system worked correctly. Only worry if moisture is getting past the cover — that indicates a cover fit issue, not a fitted diaper issue.
How long before the hemp reaches full absorbency?
Pre-wash 2–3 times before first use for baseline absorbency. Hemp continues to improve over the first 5–8 washes as the fibers fully open up. If first-night performance feels underwhelming, wash the diaper a few more times before drawing conclusions. Most parents find the diaper performing at its best by the end of the first week of regular use.
How many fitted diapers do I need for overnight?
For overnight cloth diapering with a 2–3 day wash rotation, most parents build a stash of 3–5 fitted diapers. This lets you always have clean ones on hand between wash cycles. One cover can be rotated across several fitted diapers — the cover only needs washing when soiled, not every night. If you're just trying the system, a pack of 2 is a practical starting point.

    Amazing overnight diapers

Published by Leah on Apr 14th 2023

This is an excellent overnight diaper. Instead of two diaper changes at night, we now don't have to do a single one. This is helping the baby sleep for longer stretches (and us too!) Great product. We're ecstatic to be able to stick with cloth diapers entirely *and* not sacrifice our sanity or our sleep. Thanks EcoAble!

    The best overnight diapers

Published by Nic on Oct 6th 2020

These are truly great overnight diapers. Our baby was extremely sensitive to diaper rash regardless of how many times we changed her diapers throughout the day. These hemp/cotton/bamboo diapers help us get a little more sleep and not have to worry about changing her diapers for 4-6 hours at night.
